HOW TO MAKE MATCHA

By following the steps below, you can ensure that your matcha is prepared correctly, resulting in a delicious and satisfying beverage every time. Adjust the amount of matcha powder and water to suit your taste preferences, and feel free to experiment with different variations, such as adding milk or sweeteners, to create your perfect cup of matcha.

Equipment

  • Bamboo Whisk or (handheld) foam maker
  • Small Bowl or mug
  • Fine Mesh Strainer (for sifting out clumps)

Ingredients
  • 1-2 grams of matcha powder
  • 2 ounces hot water (60-70 ml) of hot water - 80°C is ideal
  • 6 ounces additional hot water or steamed milk of choice: almond milk, oat milk, coconut milk, dairy milk, etc.
  • Optional: maple syrup, honey, or other sweetener

Instructions
  • Sift the matcha into a mug or small bowl to get rid of any lumps.
  • Pour in the 2 ounces of the hot water. Use a matcha whisk or small regular whisk, whisk vigorously in a zig zag motion until the tea is frothy (it is also completely fine if you use a handheld foam maker).
  • Add the remaining 6 ounces of hot water or steamed milk and whisk again until foamy. Sweeten to taste, if desired.
